To start with, it is now evident that Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone which compromises of seven Local Governments Areas (LGAs) of Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Giwa, Igabi, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, and Kajuru LGAs is in good hands under the able, capable , active, competent, committed, result- oriented, kind, companionate , humane, and a large hearted leadership of Lawal Adamu Usman popularly known as Mr. LA.
The performances of Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman so far is remarkable ,appreciable and enviable. He is a Distinguished Senator with a Distinction in his scorecard. He has been discharging his duties of Law making, Overnight functions, and Representation with a distinction. He has within his short stay in office as a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic been putting smiles to many faces through his excellent representation. He has been helping hundreds and thousands of his constituents in solving their personal, family, health, Socio-Economic and educational problems etc.
Distinguished Senator LA's capacity, resourcefulness, dedication, commitment , competence, and personality earned him the Chairmanship of an all-important Senate Standing Committee on Education (Basic & Secondary Education); the Vice Chairmanship of a Senate Standing Committee on Banking and Insurance; a Member Committee on Appropriations; a Member Committee on Customs; a Member Committee on Marine Transport
and a Member Committee on FCT despite being a "First Term" Senator. Distinguished Sen Lawal Adamu Usman (Mr LA) is also a member of the ECOWAS Parliament of the sixth legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament.
Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman is well-known for his generosity, benevolence, and altruism. As a person with a "large heart" he has been a "super" philanthropist to the good people of Kaduna State and beyond for quite some time . He is well-known for his philanthropic work even before he joined politics. His charity work is being carried out through the LA Cares Foundation which he founded to support indigent and vulnerable populations, particularly the youth, orphans, widows, and the less privileged in society.
He has been helping hundreds and thousands of indigent people of Kaduna State and beyond who are from different communities irrespective of their ethno-religious backgrounds with various needs ranging from food, shelter, Boreholes for portable water supply, medical issues, transformers for electricity, and education etc., even when he was not an elected Senator of the Federal Republic. For Mr. LA services to humanity is service to God.
Mr. LA has recorded a tremendous success as a Distinguished Senator in numerous areas. He is an active legislature of the 10th Senate. He participates fully in all legislative debates with valuable inputs. He is a valuable chairman of an all-important Education Committee. His contributions to all the Senate committees he is a member are highly valuable.
He sponsored a "motion" on the floor of the 10th Senate on the urgent need to expeditiously complete the ongoing 166 kilometer Abuja-Kaduna expressway construction and to increase the presence of security surveillance through deployment of more personnel and use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) such as drones, radars and scanners on and around the highway. He also sponsored a motion to address the security issues in the most vulnerable local government areas he represents, namely: Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and Chikun etc.
In just two (2) years he sponsored the following Bills which are now at various legislative stages: The National Eye Centre Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 No. (SB. 83) ; a Bill for the Compulsory Free Universal Basic Education Act (Amendment Bill, 2024) ; the establishment of a Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Kaduna State (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (SB. 237) ; and a Bill for an act to establish the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration and other related matters connected therewith, 2024 among others.
Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman intervention are in various areas such as :
EDUCATION:
In fulfillment of his promise to build 100 Smart Classrooms across the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, the construction has since commenced with many completed. ₦500 million in scholarships and bursary awards for over 1,000 tertiary students, with bursary awards ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦150,000; sponsorship of WAEC and JAMB exams for hundreds of secondary school students and sponsored the construction of toilets in various public schools within Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT:
He gave Startup grants of ₦500,000 each to 500 entrepreneurs, drawn equally from the seven LGAs in the district for youths and women entrepreneurs; he sponsored Skills acquisition training in areas like soap-making and fish farming, with startup kits provided to over 300 beneficiaries. He facilitated the employment of people.
ELECTRICITY:
Installation of over 200 electricity transformers across various communities. Provision of Solar-powered streetlights.
AGRICULTURE:
Distribution of over 30,000 tons of fertilizer to farmers. Hundreds of his constituents were on Fish Farming.
WATER SUPPLY:
He provided Solar-Powered Boreholes in over 100 locations in order to drastically improving access to clean drinking water.
HEALTH:
Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman has been helping hundreds and thousands of people with needs even before he was elected a Senator. His Medical outreach so far has benefited over 120 widows of fallen heroes.
SOCIAL WELFARE:
In 2024, Senator LA donated valuables including food items and hundreds of sewing and knitting machines to many widows to assist them in fending for themselves and tackling their financial problems. His efforts at mobilizing his colleagues to the Tudun Biri incident and his resilience to ensure that monies pledged by them are realized is a well-known and appreciated development. He collected and handed over the funds to the Governor of Kaduna with whom they shared remarkable work affiliation.
RELIGION:
Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman as a Senator has during Ramadan period donated 100 bags of Rice with ₦2,000,000 to his neighbors to enable perform their religious obligations with ease. He distributed Sallah rams to many residents across his Senatorial district. Distinguished Senator LA also donated ₦25,000,000 to the committee of Imams and Islamic scholars during the Ramadan.
He has consistently sponsored individuals for Lesser Hajj (Umrah) to pray for national peace and prosperity even before he was elected a Senator. In January 2024 precisely, Senator LA sponsored the first set of 20 people to perform the lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia to offer prayers for the peace, progress, and unity of Nigeria.
However, Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman donated the sun of ₦75,000,000.00 to Christian brethren for the Christmas festive celebration.
CONCLUSION:
His numerous dividends of democracy delivered within his short stay in office to the people of his constituency has continued to endear him to his people and the electorate. The good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District and course, Kaduna State as a whole, stand to gain a lot from Distinguished Senator LA’s result orientedness, competence, hard work , and commitment.
He is well-known for his commitment to uplifting the masses as already demonstrated in the empowerment programmes he has been carrying out since before he was elected to represent the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
