HOW I FELL VICTIM TO A WHATSAPP HACKER!

To begin with, I happened to be a victim of a "WHATSAPP" hacker who has caused a lot of embarrassment to me. Permit me to apologize to all that might have been duped or embarrassed in my name.

How it all began, on the 7th day of December, 2019 at exactly 1.19PM a phone number rang on my phone which I picked, someone introduced himself to me as a member of a "WhatsApp"group called "POLITICS TODAY" which I am an active member to. 

He told me that I have been selected for a group chat to discuss about a candidate by 5.30PM. He further told me that, if am interested a code will be sent to me. I asked him, which candidate and for what office? There was no answer from him, he hurriedly ended the call. 

I then saw an SMS text thus:" Your WhatsApp code: 997-910. You can also tap on this link to verify your phone v. whatsapp. com/997910. Don't share this code with others 4sgLq1p5sV6., at exactly 1.21PM., which I ignored. At exactly 1.35PM I also saw another SMS text thus: <# >Your WhatsApp code: 900-599. You can also tap on this link to verify your phone v. whatsapp. com/900599.Don't share this code with others 4sgLq1p5sV6.

He later called me again and asked if I saw a code? I asked him which code? He replied, the code for the chat. The next thing I noticed was that, as I tried to access my WhatsApp, It  asked me for verification. 

By exactly 2.39PM someone from another WhatsApp group who have known me very well called to ask if I was aware of what was happening in my name . I told him that, I was not aware of it whatsoever! He told me that, he thought as much. 

Much later at exactly 2.56PM I saw another SMS text thus:" 665022 is your facebook password reset code, which I also ignored.

However, I got the information of what transpired between the hacker and my WhatsApp groups' friends through a friend thus: 

"...Nura changed number to a new number. Tap to message or add the new number +2347085555690.Good afternoon everyone. Hi, I am Nurudeen Dauda as you all know. Am very sorry for dropping this here.There is one plartform I come across. Is called assured wealth. Assured wealth international is a platform where you invest and get double income of what you invest in less than 45 minutes..."

"...Is very genuine and authentic program you will benefit from and tell people around you like your friends and family.A friend of mine introduce it to me few hours back.It is 100 percent real and paying..."

"...I thought it was scam before but now I can testify.I give it a try with 50k and get my double income of 100k..." 

He then sent a printed statement of account bearing my name which showed a credit alert of N100,000 . He continued, thus: "...That is my credit alart. Anyone interested should private chat me now for more details."

Having being alerted to the fact that my WhatsApp was hacked I distance myself from all messages sent in my name . I requested to the person to on my behalf issued a disclaimer. I immediately posted a disclaimer through my facebook page to all my friends even though I knew that not all of them were and or are my facebook friends. I reached out to all my groups Admins that I knew and issued a disclaimer . 

But, unfortunately! About 5 hours later a friend called to inform me that he had transferred the sum of N25,000 to the hacker through a Bank account . However, the import from what transpired between my WhatsApp friends and the hacker showed that, perhaps I am not the main target but, my friends and followers on social media are. The hacker still disguised  as me with my picture which he copied from my  WhatsApp page.

I herewith call on all social media platforms' owners to deploy all technology necessary in order to protect their customers from hackers. I also call on my fellow social media users to be extra careful.
