To begin with, there is now an alleged "drug cartel" in our airports which specialised in planting drugs on unsuspecting airtravellers. Of the six alleged members of the drug cartel arrested in connection with planting of Tramadol in a bag bearing Zainab Habibu Aliyu's name, three were said to be "clearing agents", two were said to be staff of a"security company" and one a staff of an "airline handling company".

In my observation, the arrest of Miss Aliyu in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in respect of 2000 packs of "Tramadol" said to be found in a bag bearing her name has nothing , but succeeded in exposing our institutional weaknesses.Heads should and or must roll!

It appears that there is a syndicate in both countries.Planting of drugs is probably done in an extra luggage bearing the name of a traveller without his knowledge. Upon reaching a destination a traveller might only pick his luggage and leave the one which is not his which might give an accomplice from a syndicate the opportunity to pick the extra luggage.

What even worries me a lot is the subject of her arrest, a"Tramadol", which is not even produced in Nigeria to my knowledge. More so, It is a contraband product. How come it enters Nigeria in the first place ? Where is the Nigerian Customs?

Our agencies must accept their lapses . The government must take responsibility. So, rather than the government celebrating the rescue of Miss Aliyu, its should be ashamed of its institutions for not living up to expectations. The government should and or must reorganize all its agencies charge with the responsibility of manning our airports.

Are there no officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA; the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC; and the Nigerian Customs in Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA?

Who are the owners of the alleged clearing agents, airline handling company and the security company in our airports ? Who supervises their activities? It is high time , the government takes its responsibility very serious.

Many innocent souls might have been lost by the activities of the alleged drug cartel. The government should carry out a thorough investigation on the issue. Anybody found guilty must be punished severely.

In my view, all the above named agencies of government must take the responsibility of what happened to Miss Aliyu. She should be compensated by both the government of Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

May God bless Nigeria!
