"We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of Palestinians" - Nelson Mandela. "The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict"-
Martin Luther King, Jr.

What spark off the recent "tension" in the "Middle East" as well as the entire "world" is the "decision" of the 6th day of November, 2017 by President Donald Trump of United States of America to recognize "Jerusalem" as Israel's capital rather than its present "Tel Aviv".There was a law passed by the US congress over two decades ago which asked that the US Embassy be moved to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. From that time, the successive US presidents always seized a loophole in the law and signed a deferment every six months.

All countries having diplomatic relations with Israel recognize Tel Aviv as their capital and have their embassies there. United Nations had in 1974 resolved that the best way to solve the crisis between them is two- state solution, whereby Palestine would be divided into two states: one for Arab and one for Jews existing independently as well as side by side.

Palestine has East Jerusalem as its propose capital for its future country. On the other hand, Israel claims both West and East Jerusalem together as its capital. The United Nations and the international community recognized  East Jerusalem as "occupied territory" which its status should be determined by "negotiations".

East Jerusalem or Eastern Jerusalem is the sector of Jerusalem that was occupied by Jordan in 1948 and had remained out of the Israeli-held West Jerusalem at the end of the 1948–49 Arab–Israeli War . It includes Jerusalem's Old City and some of the holiest sites of Judaism , Christianity , and Islam , such as the Temple Mount , Western Wall , Al-Aqsa Mosque , Dome of the Rock and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre .

So far, Jerusalem remains one of the main obstacles to the realization of peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

At least on this, all US allies including UK, France, Japan, and Germany are not with President Trump in addition to objections from Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt and Iran .  Moreover, Pope Francis, the Secretary General of United Nations, Antonio Gutterres, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and EU foreign policy chief, show their objections too.

In my observation, the "action" of President Trump is highly insensitive to peace loving people worldwide and it will nothing but increase anti- American sentiments. The decision is unilateral! Moreover, his "action" will perhaps satisfy the interest of some naïve voters in US , but will certainly create more "enemies" to United States of America than "friends".

The entire "world" must go beyond objections alone. The United  Nations as well as the international community should and or must prevail on President Trump to reverse his "decision" in the interest of fairness and world peace.

Before 1947 the Jews worldwide lived outside Palestine, predominantly in eastern and central Europe, with significant communities in the Mediterranean, the Middle East and  America. The history of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict began with the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.The conflict continues up to the present day on various levels.

Balfour Declaration of November 17, 1917, which was a British statement of support for the establishment " of a country for the "Jews" in Palestine was seen as the root cause of  the Palestinian crisis. According to the Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, "For Palestinians, the Balfour Declaration is the root cause of our destitution ,dispossession and the ongoing occupation,"- Saleh Fhied ( Daily Trust, November 2, 2017).

There was a United Nations "partitioning arrangement" which divided the Palestinian territory between the Jewish community and Arab community in Palestine. The "partition" came up on the 28th day of November 1947. Palestinian territory before the U.N "partition" was made up of 63% population of Palestine Arabs  and 37% Israelis.

However, the Jews who had 37% population were given 55% of the territory by the partition, the Arabs who had 63% population were given 42% of territory and the remaining 3% was to form an international zone including Jerusalem. The Zionists at that time accepted the plan although Zionist leaders did not accept as final the borders it laid down for Israel they, however, aimed for more. On the other hand, the Palestinian Arabs rejected the partition as being totally unfair.

Since its establishment in 1948, the State of Israel has fought eight recognized wars, two Palestinian intifadas, and a series of armed conflicts in the broader Arab–Israeli conflict .

The United Nations and International community must go beyond objections or condemnation!
