In my humble opinion, there is difference between an "attack" on a "Corrupt" judge and on "Judiciary" as an "institution". A "judge" or "lawyer" is not the "law" itself and as such should and must not be above the "law". Judges are appointed and once they reach certain age they retire. The "institution" of Judiciary remains even under Military regime. Judges come and go while the "institution" remains. There are honest judges and lawyers just as bad eggs.
The institution of "legislation" is also different from a "legislator". Attacks on "corrupt" legislators is not an attack on the institution" of "legislation". Since return to democracy from 1999 to date we have had so many Senate Presidents as well as speakers of House of Representatives. The institution of legislation remains while Senators and Reps members come and go. There could be good Senators /reps just as bad Senators/reps members. Dealing with a corrupt legislator does not amount to undermining its Independence.
There is difference between "crime" and "ethnic" group or "region" or "religion". We must stop the "hypocrisy" that Muslims law offenders are "terrorists" while non - Muslims law offenders of the same magnitude of crime are "attackers". A criminal should and must be treated as such. A corrupt person whether a judge or lawyer or Muslim or Christian or northerner or Southerner must be treated as such.
Let’s not spare corrupt Military, police, customs, Immigration, civil defense, Road safety, and NDLEA officers etc., let's not spare "corrupt" politicians, public and civil servants. No one should be above the law. We must "clean" our society of the menace of corruption. We must start it now. We must get rid of corrupt now!
We need "strong" and "functional" institutions not "individuals" or "leaders" or "professions". We must support the fight against corrupt as a deterrent! We Must question judges, legislators, executives who are leaving above there means. The rule of law should not and must not spare judges or lawyers or legislators or members of the executive.
However, the DSS or EFCC or ICPC or CCT or CCB should and must follow the laid down rules of the law in pursuing the law offenders. There should not and or must not be secret cows. Impunity must stop in Nigeria.
May God bless Nigeria!
