President Trump before his swearing in then as US President-elect appointed three of his children: Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner to his transition team. After his swearing in he appointed his son-in-law Jared Kushner as Senior Adviser to president. However, White House has announced that Ivanka Trump will be appointed Presidential Adviser.

Is this a "nepotism" or cronyism" or "favoritism" or "sectionalism" and or regionalism? Nigeria quickly comes to mind! Well, it happens in US as a "mirror"of "Democracy" and heaven did not fall! One wonders that despite the "cosmopolitan" nature of America this happens. America is truly a "melting pot" as well as a Nation-state. However, one must not ignore the fact that there are fault lines even in the US which were clearly exposed by the recently concluded electioneering campaigns.

US politics has a history of family or political dynasty. We have had the Kennedy,Roosevelt, Bush, Adams etc ., political families. However, Is Donald Trump trying to build a political dynasty? Is there anything wrong with building a political dynasty?

THE KENNEDY FAMILY:

President Kennedy after winning election In 1960 in US  his first appointment was his 35-year old brother as Attorney general of the United States. Robert Kennedy was his brother's campaign manager. Robert Kennedy was very instrumental in Kennedy's government.
Robert Kennedy’s influence in the administration extended well beyond law enforcement. Though different in temperament and outlook, the President came to rely heavily on his brother’s judgment and effectiveness as political adviser, foreign affairs counselor, and most trusted confidant.

Edward Moore "Ted " Kennedy was a United States Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Democratic Party . He was the second most senior member of the Senate when he died and was the fourth-longest-serving senator in United States history, having served there for almost 47 years. The most prominent living member of the Kennedy family for many years, he was the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy , both victims of assassination; and the father of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy.

Kennedy entered the Senate in a November 1962 special election to fill the seat once held by his brother John. He was elected to a full six-year term in 1964 and was reelected seven more times. He became recognized as "The Lion of the Senate" through his long tenure and influence. More than 300 bills that Kennedy and his staff wrote were enacted into law.

THE GEORGIA MAFIA:

President Jimmy Carter 39th US president appointed must of his official from Georgia where he came from. That made the US media to nickname them as Georgia Mafias. He argued that the buck stops at him as such he to appoint his trustees and loyalist. Wow!
Most of the key positions in the executive branch were staffed by Georgians who had some connection to Carter: budget director Bert Lance; communications director Gerald Rafshoon; domestic policy advisor Stuart Eizenstat; Attorney General Griffin Bell; appointments secretary Phil Wise; Congressional liaison Frank Moore; White House counsel Robert Lipshutz. The closer one came to Carter's inner circle, the longer and deeper the connection. At the core were Carter's press secretary, Jody Powell, and de facto chief of staff, Hamilton Jordan.

THE BUSH FAMILY:

Samuel’s son, Prescott Bush, was a Senator from Connecticut. His son was George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States. And of course, his sons are George and Jeb Bush, Governors of Texas and Florida. President Bush Jr.45th president of US.

THE ROOSEVELTS FAMILY:

The Roosevelts family is responsible for producing important Americans such as Presidents Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin D. Roosevelt, as well as Eleanor Roosevelt, who was part of the family herself.
The Roosevelt family’s political success started with Nicholas Roosevelt, who was the first of them to hold elected office, as an alderman. The family members have held many different political positions in New York and nationally since then.

THE ADAMS FAMILY:

Like the Roosevelts, the Adams have put out two United States Presidents, the second, John Adams, and the sixth, John Quincy Adams. Their members played a role in the country’s founding all the way up to the early 20th century.

THE HARRISONS FAMILY:

The Harrisons are the third family on this list with two American presidents, William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, however their family is far more ingrained in the country. Benjamin Harrison V was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Their family list is peppered with notable members who were governors and senators as well.

THE TAFTS FAMILY:

Most Americans are unaware of the power and reach of the American Taft family . The Tafts have produced multiple senators, governors, judges, and of course a President.
William Howard Taft was the most famous of the Tafts. He was President for one term, and then served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court after being nominated for the position by President Harding. His father was Alphonso Taft, who was Attorney General and Secretary of War under Ulysses S. Grant. President Taft’s son, Robert A. Taft, was a Senator from Ohio who ran for President and that’s all just one paternal line in the Taft family.
