LET'S HAVE ELECTORAL OFFENCES COMMISSION

LET'S HAVE ELECTORAL OFFENCES   COMMISSION                             By:              Nurudeen Dauda              November 19, 2019 nurudeendauda24@gmail.com nurudeendauda24@yahoo.com nurudeendauda.blogspot.com The governorship elections of Kogi and Bayelsa states had come and gone. The battle will most likely be shifted to courts. It is important to state that politicians in Nigeria from both sides of the divides often employ the tactics of violence, Votes- buying, hijacked, kidnapped, maiming, and killings in their weak political zones with the aims of reducing their opponents' votes in order to win elections .  In my observation, as it is, electoral offenders in Nigeria almost get away with all manners of electoral offences. There is hardly a deterrent for would be electoral offenders ! For us to get it right, It is high time we establish an Independent body charge with the responsibility of "Investigating" and "prosecuting" of electoral offenders in or

CELEBRATING DW HAUSA SERVICE @6O

CELEBRATING DW HAUSA SERVICE @6O                               BY:                  Nurudeen Dauda                 November 9th, 2023. nurudeendauda24@yahoo.com nurudeendauda24@gmail.com nurudeendauda.blogspot.com Permit me to congratulate the management of "DW HAUSA" for coming thus far. As you mark 60 years of operation I wish you many more years. Please accept my best wishes and congratulations! Hausa, Swahili and Arabic are the three main African languages that most western broadcasting media stations often consider in Africa for broadcasting. The selection of Hausa, Swahili and Arabic in Africa is aimed at reaching the vast majority of African audiences. Hausa language is largely spoken in West Africa, Swahili in East Africa, and Arabic in North Africa. From the 1950s "Africa" witness the proliferations of foreign media stations broadcasting news in African languages. Some "analysts" alleged that the two major western blocs of the "capitalist&quo

THE POLITICS OF ACCENT

THE POLITICS OF ACCENT                                        By:                            Nurudeen Dauda                            October 22, 2022 nurudeendauda24@yahoo.com nurudeendauda24@gmail.com nurudeendauda.blogspot.com "The accents of our presidential candidates are terrible. Peter Obi has the worst of them all. If it was based on accent, I will vote Al-mustapha, but it goes beyond that"---Muhammad Kabina I quite agree with you that it is beyond just ones "accent". Luckily for us the four major contenders in the presidential election of 2023 as opined by some analysts have held public offices in this fourth republic. Let our judgements for who to vote as electorates be guided by the track-records of these candidates based on the offices they previously held. In my view, we need leaders who based on their track records of achievements have the "ability" to tackle the problems of insecurity, inflation, unemployment and poverty which do not discri

RESTRUCTURING: A SOUTH-SOUTH PERSPECTIVE (PART-ONE)

RESTRUCTURING: A SOUTH-SOUTH PERSPECTIVE (PART-ONE)                        By:               Nurudeen Dauda               February 16th ,2016 nurudeendauda24@yahoo.com nurudeendauda24@gmail.com  nurudeendauda.blogspot.com                               To begin with, permit me to ask some pertinent questions thus: Is the problem of Nigeria that of “Structure” or “Leadership” or “Both”? However, I intend to put up my understanding on the calls for restructuring by some “politicians” by serializing my write ups from South-South, South -East, South-West and to Northern perspectives or dominant understanding on the issue. The concept of “Re-structuring” In my understanding means differently to different people. To the South- Southerners it means “Resource Control” which means that the Niger Delta states should have ownership of their “Resources” as against the Federal Government. To South-Easterners it means Con-federalism which is a system of Government that allows “Secession” at will as c

KADSG HOST THE FIRST EVER NORTHERN NIGERIA SOLID MINERAL FAIR

KADSG HOST THE FIRST EVER NORTHERN NIGERIA SOLID MINERAL FAIR                                By:                     Nurudeen Dauda                     May 11, 2017 nurudeendauda24@yahoo.com nurudeendauda24@gmail.com  nurudeendauda.blogspot.com Northern Nigeria can safely be said to be the home of solid mineral resources in Nigeria. Although there are solid mineral resources all over the country it is a public knowledge that it is dominant in the North. "About 34 minerals of commercial quantities have been found in Nigeria"- Mr. David Adulugba, Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC)-(Vanguard, October 27,2011). Kogi state alone has deposits of a total of 29 MINERAL RESOURCES available in commercial quantities. Nasarawa state about 23, Plateau state about 21 and Kaduna state about 19 different mineral resources. In a book tittle: Industrial Development of the Northern States of Nigeria, edited by Dr.Usman Bugaje, Dr. Ladi A.Hamalai and Dr. Sabo A.In

THE POLITICS OF 13% DERIVATION

THE POLITICS OF 13% DERIVATION                                   By                       Nurudeen Dauda                       November 8th, 2023. nurudeendauda24@yahoo.com nurudeendauda24@gmail.com nurudeendauda.blogstop.com Permit me to state that I do not have any problem with Gov Bago's demands for 13% derivation for Niger state from FG for generating power, but it is however apt to know the power generation mix of Nigeria. In Nigeria we currently rely largely on "Gas power plants" to generate electricity. By my records about 80% of our electricity generation is through "Gas power plants" only about 20% of our generation is through "Hydro power plants". In my thought, there are a lot of unresolved issues on 13% derivation. It is apt to state that, right from the day we refused to "properly treat" the issue of "Onshore" and "Offshore" dichotomy in the allocation of 13% derivation of oil revenue to oil producing states w

APC'S COMMITTEE REPORT FOR TRUE FEDERALISM : WITH FOCUS ON RESOURCE CONTROL

APC'S COMMITTEE REPORT FOR TRUE FEDERALISM : WITH FOCUS ON RESOURCE CONTROL                            By:            Nurudeen Dauda            February 16, 2018 nurudeendauda24@gmail.com nurudeendauda24@yahoo.com nurudeendauda.blogspot.com The issue of Resource Control in Nigeria has been very popular among the three geo-political zones of Sourthern Nigeria who are the oil producing states in the country. On the other hand, the issue is quite unpopular among the three geo-political zones of Northern Nigeria. Nigerians must be reminded that Crude oil or Petroleum Resources is not the only Natural Resources that Nigeria has. In fact, Nigeria is more of a Solid Mineral Resource country than a Petroleum Resource country, but however, the present reality is that, the country depends heavenly on Petroleum Resources. Northern Nigeria has been very skeptical about  Resource Control. In my view, Northern Nigeria should have nothing to fear about it because it has more Solid Mineral Resource
